Years ago, Olajumoke Orisaguna walked into a photoshoot while hawking bread on the streets of Lagos, and her life changed almost overnight. Nigerians celebrated her remarkable story as she moved from the streets into the spotlight.

Today, she is creating content to earn a living and remain relevant, yet some of the same people who once celebrated her are now mocking her.

Why?

Because life did not follow the perfect success story we expected? Because someone who once experienced fame is no longer allowed to adapt, start again or do whatever honest work is available to survive?

There is no manual for living this life. Fame is not the same as lasting success, and being celebrated today does not guarantee financial security tomorrow. Life can take anyone through seasons of abundance, uncertainty, setbacks and rebuilding.

Olajumoke is not stealing. She is not begging. She is not harming anyone. She is using her platform, her personality and the opportunity available to her to create content and stay afloat in an increasingly difficult economy. There should be no shame in that.

What is truly disappointing is seeing people turn another person’s struggle into entertainment. We often speak about mental health and kindness, yet our comments can be cruel enough to break the very people we claim to support.

Instead of mocking her appearance, her content or her present circumstances, we should remember the human being behind the screen—a woman, a mother and a survivor trying to navigate life the best way she knows how.

If you cannot support her, do not destroy her confidence.

At Kokun Foundation, we believe that every honest effort to survive deserves dignity, not ridicule. Starting again is not failure. Adapting is not shameful.

May God guide Olajumoke, strengthen her and connect her with genuine people and sustainable opportunities. Her story is not over, and this chapter should not be used to define her entire life.

Keep going, sister. We wish you nothing but the very best. ❤️💙Short video

We remove the canopy after the rain stopped and we chatted I joke with them..
#

rainfall may have soaked our clothes, but it could never dampen the spirit of compassion that brought us together. It was a reminder that kindness is not measured by the weather, but by the willingness to stand with one another through every season.

Today reminded me why we do what we do.
To every individuals who sat patiently under the rain today, waiting with hope and unwavering faith, I say thank you.

Your strength, resilience, and quiet determination humbled us all. Despite the rain, you stayed—not because it was easy, but because you believed that someone cared enough to show up for you.

That trust is something we will never take for granted At Kokun Foundation, we see you. We hear you. We honour your sacrifices, your courage, and your unwavering commitment to your families.

On behalf of myself and everyone at Kokun Foundation, thank you for your patience, your smiles, and your prayers. They encourage us to keep doing more.

Together, we will continue to restore hope, one family at a time.

    RESPECT STILL MATTERS.

A young woman was given the rare opportunity to ask one of Africa’s most influential business leaders, Mr Tony Elumelu, a question. She casually addressed him as “Tony,” and he immediately corrected her.

Some may consider it a harmless display of confidence, while others may see it as a lack of proper etiquette. But confidence and courtesy are not opposites. You can speak boldly, intelligently and comfortably while still acknowledging the age, position and accomplishments of the person before you.

In our culture, titles are often more than formalities; they communicate respect. Familiarity should not be assumed simply because someone is approachable or because we see them regularly on social media.

The lesson is not to ridicule the young woman—everyone can make a mistake. The lesson is to understand that opportunities can open doors, but character, preparation and proper conduct determine the impression we leave behind.

Respect does not diminish you. It reveals your upbringing, emotional intelligence and awareness of your environment.
