A band is a comparison, not a grade: there is no score here, no fake-follower percentage. Audience demographics, when supplied, are shown separately. How the ranges were chosen.

“My decision to remain in the PDP is for my people in Kwara.”

These were my words earlier today at the Kwara South PDP stakeholders’ meeting held at my home in Ilorin.

I reminded our members that the road to victory in 2027 begins at the grassroots. Everyone must take responsibility for their community, hold their base and secure their polling unit.

We must also learn from the recent governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti states. Elections are won through strong organisation, effective mobilisation and a genuine connection with the people.

I thanked our Kwara South stakeholders for their sacrifices, commitment and continued belief in our party and its candidates. I also assured them that no one who has contributed to strengthening our collective effort will be forgotten.

By the grace of Almighty God, and with the commitment of our members across the state, the next Governor of Kwara State will be the candidate flying the PDP flag.Carousel

Today I had the pleasure of welcoming Senator Saliu Mustapha, who represents Kwara Central, and Dr Baba Kolo Jiya, our senatorial candidate for Kwara North, to my home in Ilorin, along with many of their supporters.

Senator Mustapha, the Turaki Ngeri of Ilorin, recently left the APC and joined the PDP, and has since picked up the party’s nomination form for Kwara Central. Dr Kolo, the Hasken Patigi, has emerged as our candidate in Kwara North. I told them both what I believe to be true: their decision took courage, and it is a step towards the work of rebuilding and advancing our state.

There is no more G1 or G2. Whatever divided us in the past belongs to the past. Today we are one big family, and we must operate as one. I am asking every PDP member, in every ward and every local government, to open their arms to the people joining us.

I also joked with Senator Mustapha that he was calling members of our structure by their names and recognising their faces without any help. That tells you he has a good history with this structure.

Our focus now is 2027. Remember the sacrifices our people have made. When you are elected, govern in a way that shares power and carries everyone along. The dividends of democracy must reach everybody.Carousel

I arrived Kwara today to a rousing welcome from my people. I thank you all for the warmth, and for turning out the way you did. The people of Kwara have kept faith with the PDP through seasons that were not always easy, and that is not a trust I take lightly.

To our new members who have joined us from other parties in their wards and local governments areas, you are welcome. What matters now is not where you came from, but where we are going together.

Kwara PDP is united. We are ready for 2027.

Today, I paid a visit to Hon. Moshood Mustapha at his home in Abuja, in the company of our Kwara PDP governorship candidate, Engr. Kale Kawu @engrkalekawu, and the state party chairman, Hon. Issa Bawa.

I commended MM for his continued commitment to our collective goals, and especially for the personal sacrifices he has made along the way. His willingness to put the larger interest ahead of his own is rare in our politics, and it speaks to the kind of leader he is.Carousel

As His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, turns 70 today, my family and I send our warmest wishes to a man whose voice has helped steady our country through some of its most difficult seasons.

For almost twenty years on the throne, and before that through a distinguished career in the military, His Eminence has carried the same message wherever he has gone: peace must be protected at all costs, and no Nigerian should ever be made to feel like a stranger in his own country.

As he celebrates this milestone, I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) will continue to grant His Eminence good health and many more years of the wisdom our country continues to value so deeply.Image

85 Hearty Cheers to Our General!

Today, as always, my family and I celebrate a General who has remained a fixture in the Nigerian military, politics, and governance over the last four decades as he turns 85.

General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, GCFR, is a man who has served and led our dear country at its critical periods — during peacetime and wartime. He has fought to keep our country together and develop its socio-economic and political institutions.

A quintessential statesman, he is one of the few people qualified to be called a maker of modern Nigeria.

Our prayer to Almighty Allah (SWT) is that He should continue to endow the former military President of Nigeria with good health and immeasurable grace.

Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns, sir.Image

I congratulate my dear brother and friend, Governor Ademola Adeleke @Aadeleke_01, on his re-election as Governor of Osun State.

The people of Osun have spoken, and they have spoken clearly. They have had four years to judge the record of his stewardship, to weigh the promises against the performance, and they have asked him to continue. There can be no greater vote of confidence for a leader than the freely expressed verdict of the people he serves.

I also commend the good people of Osun State who came out to vote and, importantly, remained vigilant in defence of their votes.

At a time when there are legitimate concerns about the strength and credibility of our democratic institutions, every election in which the will of the people is freely expressed, faithfully counted and ultimately respected is an important victory for our democracy.

Governor Adeleke now begins a second term with the benefit, and indeed the responsibility, of a renewed mandate. I wish him well, and I trust that he will use the next four years to deepen the work already begun, justify the confidence of the people of Osun, and leave behind a stronger and more prosperous state.

Congratulations, my brother.
